What to Consider When Purchasing A New Range

Important Range Questions to Consider

A range is arguably the most important part of any kitchen. It likely sees the most use of any appliance. So, buying a new range can put a lot of pressure on homeowners. No need to fret, we at Appliance Educator have done all the work for you, so you know exactly what to look for when purchasing your new range.

What Type of Range Should I Buy?

There are many types of ranges that are on the market. From freestanding ranges to rangetops, cooktops, and wall ovens, there really are unlimited possibilities. A freestanding range is your typical range with a cooktop and oven. Rangetops and cooktops are the same ideas, but without an oven attached. This is nice if you already have a wall oven, or have beautiful cabinetry that you don’t want to get rid of. A lot of homeowners are choosing the combination of a wall oven and a range top because it provides extra flexibility in your kitchen. However, a classic and stunning freestanding range is a timeless addition.

What Size of Range do I Need?

Choosing the right size for your range is crucial. Typically, you want it to be the same size or smaller than your range hood. Sizes range from 24” to 48”, and now even 60”! There really is a size for everyone. One of our partners, ZLINE Kitchen and Bath, just launched their stunning 60” range. A range this large would have unlimited cooking abilities for any household or dinner party size. However, smaller size Ranges are also available.

Should I Buy a Single or Double Wall Oven?

Many ranges on the market have the option to have a double or single oven. This can be life-changing for some households. If you want two dishes cooking simultaneously at different temperatures, a double oven would be perfect for you. If this feature doesn’t excite you, then you may want to lean more towards a single oven.

Do I Need, Gas, Electric, or Dual Fuel For My Range?

This decision is an important one. It can be based on either personal preference or the abilities of the home that you reside in. Sometimes the gas line connection isn’t convenient, but most of the time it’s just because you prefer one over the other. This however is one of the most important things to consider when purchasing your new range!
