The Best Ways To Clean Your Oven

You just got that new beautiful range to install in your kitchen and cooking is now something you look forward to doing every day. Or, you are just looking for the best ways to clean your older, but still reliable, oven. If you’re getting a lot of use out of your range and/or oven, that is most definitely a positive thing as it means you’re getting your money's worth! However, with a lot of use comes one negative of doing a lot of cooking, and that is having to clean. You don’t need to worry about cleaning dishes with the help of a dishwasher, but what about cleaning the oven? In this week’s blog, we are going to go over the two most efficient and effective methods to clean your oven.

Method 1:

The first method is the easier one of the two. This is a good way to clean as long as you have plenty of time and don't have any urgent cooking needs. You’re going to start by filling a cooking pot with water and setting the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. For an extra step to cleaning, you can also spray the inner walls of the oven with water.

Next, you’re going to let the water sit inside the oven at the stated temperature for roughly 45 minutes to an hour. This amount of time at that temperature will allow the water to create steam which will make all grease and other gunk that has accumulated inside the oven come up and make it very easy to come off with a swipe of a sponge once at a reasonable temperature.

Method 2:

The second method of cleaning your oven does require being more involved and scrubbing, but it can also be more effective than the previously mentioned method. You’re going to start with grabbing some water and baking soda, and with these two ingredients, you’re going to make a paste-like substance. This paste will require about four-parts baking soda to one-part water. You don’t need to make too much of this paste as you only need enough to line the walls of the inside of the range. You will also need to remove the oven racks with this method, and we recommend placing them in warm and soapy water while you manually clean the rest of the oven.

You’re going to let the paste sit on the oven walls for about an hour, at which time you will take a sponge and wipe off the gunk and residue that the baking soda and water combination collected.  For the grease and other residues that don’t come off easily with a sponge, you can use a plastic scraper and it should easily come off from there. Lastly, if you want to go the extra mile, we recommend spraying apple cider vinegar to the inside. This will cut any leftover grease, kill bacteria, and leave a clean smell once evaporated.

That concludes our methods of cleaning out your oven. If you are in the market for a new range, you can shop all of our favorite ranges and ovens at The Range Hood Store.
