Appliance Educator Podcast Episode 6 Recap

In our latest podcast episode, Host Drew Pearson discusses the future of AI logistics with guest Josh Millar of Raymond West. Millar oversees the sales team in Northern California and Northern Nevada. Raymond West is an intralogistics solutions provider. Essentially, intralogistics is the movement of products within one location such as a warehouse.

Millar discusses how the pandemic has forced logistic companies to find new ways to adapt and make things work. Expansion and growth have also strongly affected his company. His company is growing, but with restrictions, it has been a challenge to get people in the office and working.

Raymond West is a company that can bring an expert opinion to you. They want to ensure efficiency to each company they work with. Since logistics can be such a complex industry and takes years to master, Millar believes efficiency comes from letting an expert handle it.

Millar moves on to discuss some of the newest automation products that are out there. An automated crane picker is becoming increasingly popular. This automated crane can fly down the aisles with no lights on, grab what it needs, and bring it out. It can then take it to be automatically checked and wrapped, and then put it in the back of a truck. This whole process does not require a human to make contact with the product.

One of the things that he has learned about companies going through automation is it is important to optimize before you automate. Which can be a lot of meetings, gathering information, and work for companies to do. Processes are important to be able to move into automation. He talks about how every company in America is looking to Reno to move into because of all the growth and efficient distribution.
