When buying your new appliance, the question is always asked by your sales person, "Would you like to buy an extended warranty?". When my customer's asked me 10 years ago, before electronic circuitry was introduced to most of the appliances that are being built today, I would have said emphatically, "No!" However, today, I say without hesitation, "YES!" Allow me to tell you a few things about service contracts. The price for a contract on a specific product differs from store to store. This is something that you must consider when buying your new appliance. Also, you must consider who will be servicing the appliance. For instance, if you go to Sears, buy a product and a service contract, you will only get Sears to come out to your home to service it. This means that you might have to wait longer for someone to come out to your home. On the other hand, if you went to Lowes, Best Buy, Home Depot or any other appliance store in your area to purchase your product and the associated service agreement, they usually have more than one contractor who can come out to your home. Obviously, this can result to quicker service. These service companies are also required to carry all required insurances for the customers protection. Let my 30 years in the appliance business help you make that decision. Fill out this small questionnaire and I will e-mail back to you my recommendation for where to buy you new appliance and what service contract would benefit your needs. |
