When choosing one out of the yellow pages, you should first ask them what they charge to come out to your home. This is important because if they charge a very high rate, they really have no reason to repair your product. Just imagine a service technician doing five to six service calls a day at $70.00 a call. A service man can make $420.00 a day without fixing anything.

In my experience, it takes many years for a person to learn this trade. There are so many makes and models of appliances out there to learn. That is why you should always ask the service company that you are choosing if they have the experience in your brand of product. Personally, I always like the small businessman. They seem to really be into the personal service aspect of the business. There is usually better communication between the office and the serviceman in a small business. That will normally result in the repair of the product the first time. Smaller service companies usually work better with your schedule, unlike larger ones who seem to tell you when they can be out to your home no matter what your problem may be. Let's be honest. When your refrigerator is down, you need immediate service. A good company will know that and be there the same day.

To help the service man repair your product, it is always best for you to give him as much information about the product as possible. Such information includes the age of the appliance, its model and serial numbers and how the product is behaving. This will help the service man know what is wrong with the product before he gets there so he will then have everything he needs to fix it.

The last phase of your service experience is "ALWAYS" ask what the repair is going to cost before the repair is done. That way there are no surprises. If you are satisfied with your service experience, ask the service technician for a business card or a magnet for your refrigerator with his service company's name and phone number. That way you always have his number available when you need it. When you call for repair on another product, tell him that he made a service call to your home before, you liked the service and that is the reason why you are calling back.
